The new generation Airbus 350 XWB, which entered commercial service in January 2015, is full of state-of-the-art innovations – from its carbon-fibre reinforced plastic fuselage to its wing design and Rolls Royce XWB engines. And the icing on the cake is that more than 1,000 parts on the jet were 3D printed, which means that it has an unprecedented number of 3D printed parts, more than any other aircraft has ever had. Using Stratasys 3D printers, the company was able to reduce production time and costs significantly to produce new lightweight parts that complied with airline safety standards.
